Frequently Asked Questions

What is an initial consultation?

The initial consultation can take up to 90 minutes as we require the time to gather sufficient information on the your health history, family health, diet, lifestyle and environment. It can be quite the Q&A  type session. The information provided is kept confidential according to the Australian privacy law. In order for us to formulate an individualised plan it is important that we understand all aspects of your health and lifestyle.

what happens after the initial consultation?

After the client has completed their initial consultation, they will be asked to diarise their food, beverage and exercise for at least one (1) week. Depending on the most convenient way for the client, this can be done either by pen and paper, or taking photos on the phone.

By doing this, we are able to gain an insight into food choices, portion sizes, flavour profile and types of movement. The information provided helps us with inidividualising nutrition plans.

Once we’ve put together a plan, usually after the diary has been completed, we meet with the client and go through it. This is an exciting session for most clients as it’s a way to see how they can implement changes and look at different ways to break vicious cycles and old habits.

what if I'm finding it hard to follow?

This can vary with each client as some may struggle due to having other issues which may need to be addressed first. There are many factors which can prevent you from progressing so don’t fret. It’s a good time to reflect on your life and see what’s important and worth spending your energy on. Everyone’s journey is different and so we keep the communications open, offer support when we see the clients require it or let them reach out when they’re ready.

Will I be given a meal plan?

In short, no. We believe that in order for any new diet and lifestyle changes to be sustainable, clients should be able to create their own meals based on the advice provided on their plan. Accessibility and preference to food is different for everyone. We believe that there is no need to have clients follow a rigid meal plan in order to reach health goals.

HOW LONG IS THE PLAN AND will I get support?

The timeframe for a plan depends on the client’s goals and desired outcomes.

You will be given access to our app which allows you to diarise food, beverages, mood, exercise, bowel movements and sleep times. It also has a in-built messenger so chats can be kept confidential between us and the client only. This means that outside of the follow up/review sessions, clients have access to us when they need extra support. This is available for the duration of the plan or until the client no longer requires our support.

This is extremely helpful if the client is finding it challenging implementing any changes or even if they’re just after clarification of certain aspects of their program. Knowing the support is right at your fingertips gives the clients that little bit extra confidence.

how often should my visits be?

We recommend clients check in with us between 2 weeks after they’ve received their nutrition plan. Based on previous cases, 2 weeks is an ideal timeframe to know whether you can stick to it or not.

can i receive rebates from my private health fund?

Yes from selected private health funds. Please check your Extras cover for nutrition services. A receipt with a provider number will be presented to you once you have paid in full for your consultation to take to your health fund.

Will my information be kept confidential?

Yes. All information provided to us is kept strictly confidential and will not be shared unless the client has given us permission to do so in accordance with the Australian privacy laws. All our sessions are conducted in a non-judgemental, honest environment to provide a space for you to speak openly.
